Mariánské Lázně
Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně is the oldest golf course in Czechia. King Edward VII opened it in August 1905. Its eighteen holes sit 787 metres above sea level among the forests, and four more courses are within an hour's drive.
Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně
The course was laid out by the Scot Robert Doig and his signature still shows: small greens, carefully placed bunkers and flat ground. It does not punish the long shot, it punishes the inaccurate one.
The flat ground between conifer woods means you can play eighteen holes without a single climb — and it still isn't dull. What decides the round are the small greens. A shot that would sit safely on an ordinary course rolls off the edge here and leaves you chipping.
Next to the main course there is a public nine-hole Chip & Putt, open to players without a handicap certificate and with rental clubs. Footgolf is played on the same ground, so you can bring children or colleagues who have never tried golf. On top of that, Mariánské Lázně has an indoor centre with simulators that is open all year.
The Royal Spoon restaurant stands by the clubhouse. After a round the terrace beats the hotel dining room, and you can drop in for lunch even if you are not playing.
The course is a few kilometres from the spa centre, on the edge of the Slavkov Forest. Parking is right by the clubhouse.

West Bohemia has the highest concentration of golf courses in the country. Besides the Royal you can comfortably reach any of them from Mariánské Lázně for the day and be back in the spa town by evening.

The Golf Pass is a card that lowers the green fee at five partner courses in West Bohemia. It pays off when you stay in the spa town longer and want to play a different course each time.

When to play
The course is open from April to October, daily from eight in the morning to seven in the evening. July and August are the busiest, when the spa season in town is at its peak.
The best golf here, though, is in spring and in September. Mornings are cool, days are a pleasant twenty degrees and the course is quiet. Remember that almost eight hundred metres above sea level means changeable weather — a windproof jacket belongs in your bag even in summer.
Out of season you can practise at the indoor centre in Mariánské Lázně itself. For guests who come in winter for the spa, it is a way to keep the swing going.

Das Hotel ist wirklich schön, es liegt ein wenig oberhalb von Marienbad, ist sehr ruhig.
The hotel is really lovely, it sits a little above Marienbad and is very quiet.
A company tournament, a club trip or a group of friends? Groups get more than rooms here. We arrange tee times at the Royal and at other courses, fit them around your departure times, and if you like we fire up the grill in the garden in the evening.
A group starts at four rooms. That is roughly two flights — and from eight players the Royal Golf Club gives a discount on the green fee. A larger group can have the whole hotel to itself; it has nineteen rooms.
Our experience is not only from stays. We run our own tournament, the SwissHouse Cup, so we know what it takes to send a full field out and have the prize-giving ready in the evening.
Enquiries are handled by our travel agency, which knows both the hotel and the course. Dates for the 2027 season are arranged from autumn onwards. The earlier you get in touch, the better the tee times we can hold for your group.
Accommodation and packages
Golf and spa treatments go together better than you would expect: a round in the morning, a treatment in the afternoon. Our colleagues arrange accommodation and golf packages personally, not through an anonymous form.

Practical information
About two hours by car from Prague on the D5 motorway, roughly two and a half hours from Nuremberg. Direct trains run from Prague in around three hours.
Your own clubs, or rent a set at the club. Usual golf etiquette and dress code apply, soft spikes go without saying.
Without a handicap certificate you play the public Chip & Putt. The club offers lessons with a coach and courses for complete beginners.
The colonnade, the singing fountain, the mineral springs and the Slavkov Forest. Anyone not playing will not be bored in Mariánské Lázně.
